My vision is to cultivate a thriving Blue Economy in Africa that harmonizes economic growth with environmental sustainability, empowering coastal communities and fostering innovation.

Through strategic leadership, collaborative partnerships, and a commitment to responsible ocean resource management, I aim to create a resilient and inclusive maritime sector.

This vision encompasses promoting self-reliance, advancing entrepreneurship, and driving investment in sustainable practices that ensure the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations.

By inspiring collective action and championing innovative solutions, I aspire to build a legacy of sustainable development that enriches both the African continent and the global community.


Profile

Mayb Abelson is a passionate and visionary leader with over 10 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, self-reliance training, entrepreneurship, trade promotion, and blue economy advocate.

She is the founder and president of the Black Diaspora Trade Mission Association (BDTMA), a non-profit organization that promotes economic empowerment and self-reliance through trade and investment between African countries and the global black diaspora. At the Chamber of African Blue Economy - a forward-thinking non-profit organization

Mayb is the Chief Executive Officer and plays a pivotal role in promoting the responsible use and conservation of ocean resources while fostering economic growth, innovation, and resilience in coastal communities.

She also founded Zayin Zeta Company Limited, which specializes in discovering business growth strategies and building stronger networking systems for start-ups. Additionally, Mayb is a life coach and women's empowerment advocate who has mentored and inspired many girls and women to achieve their personal and professional goals.

She is open to leadership roles in organizations that share her vision of equitable and sustainable economic growth in Africa.


Career

  • Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of African Blue Economy (Present) : Formulating and implementing strategic plans aligned with SDG 14 (Life Below Water), collaborates with government bodies, international organizations, and private sector stakeholders to implement projects which include: fishery management and promote ethical seafood production, advocating extensively for marine biodiversity conservation, restoring degraded habitats, and mitigating the impacts of climate change on oceanic environments.

  • Founder and Managing Director of Zayin Zeta Company Limited (2021–Present): Monitors market trends and adjusts investment strategies for portfolio start-ups, identifies investment opportunities and market trends for small businesses.

  • Founder and President of the Black Diaspora Trade Mission Association (BDTMA): Organizes business forums, networking events, and capacity-building workshops for entrepreneurs and investors who want to partially settle in Ghana.

  • General Manager and Founder of Centurational Asset Management (now Zayin Zeta Limited Company) (2013-2021): Managed and tracked inventory for large organizations, developed and implemented inventory management procedures, and prepared reports for senior management on Fixed Asset Registers (FAR).

  • Founder and Marketing Consultant of TideOver Company Limited (2020–Present): Develops and implements marketing strategies for clients in various industries, conducts market research and analyzes consumer behaviour, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and launch new products.

  • Founder and President of the Axiomaread Self-Reliance Foundation (2016–Present): Offers humanitarian assistance to vulnerable youth and organizes self-reliance training for women and girls on life skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

  • Life Coach (2016–Present), Provides life coaching and mentoring services, designs workshops on personal development and professional skills, and creates and publishes online courses and resources on life coaching
